Bed Bug (Cimex lectularius)
Bed Bugs are flat brown to mahogany colored wingless insects.
They are very small approx 1/4 inch or smaller but they
enlarge after a blood meal and its color changes to a more
reddish tone after feeding.
Bed bugs feed mostly on human
blood. They hide during the day in bedding and feed
on the beds occupants mostly at night. Bed bugs can lay
5 eggs per day - up to 200 in its life span and eggs can
take from 5 to 20 days to hatch. Bed bugs can live for
months without a blood meal. They are hard to detect
but they tend to congregate together. Blood spotting on
mattresses, sheets and walls are signs of a bed bug infestation.
